अर्थ :  रहीम दास जी कहते हैं कि जो गरीबों का भला करते हैं वे सबसे महान हैं। सुदामा कहते हैं, कृष्ण की मित्रता भी एक साधना है।

Meaning :  Rahim Das ji says that those who do good to the poor are the greatest. Sudama says, Krishna's friendship is also a spiritual practice.

चाह गई चिंता मिटीमनुआ बेपरवाह ।
जिनको कुछ नहीं चाहिए, वे साहन के साह ।।

अर्थ :  जो लोग कुछ भी नहीं चाहते वे राजाओं के राजा हैं, क्योंकि उन्हें किसी चीज की कोई इच्छा नहीं है, कोई चिंता नहीं है और मन बिल्कुल लापरवाह है।

cāha gī ciṃtā miṭīmanuā beparavāha.
jinako kucha nahīṃ cāhie, ve sāhana ke sāha.
Meaning :  Those who do not want anything are the kings of kings, because they have no desire for anything, no worries and the mind is absolutely careless.

जो रहीम ओछो बढै, तौ अति ही इतराय ।
प्यादे सों फरजी भयो, टेढ़ों टेढ़ों जाय ।।
अर्थ :  जब लोग प्रगति करते हैं तो बहुत घमंड करते हैं। उसी प्रकार शतरंज के खेल में जब कोई बहुत ज्यादा माहिर हो जाता है तो वह टेढ़ी चाल चलने लगता है।

jo rahīma ocho baḍhai, tau ati hī itarāya.
pyāde soṃ pharajī bhayo, ṭeḍha़oṃ ṭeḍha़oṃ jāya.

Meaning :  People become very proud when they make progress. Similarly, when someone becomes very expert in the game of chess, he starts making crooked moves.

आब गई आदर गया, नैनन गया सनेहि।
ये तीनों तब ही गये, जबहि कहा कछु देहि॥
अर्थ :  जैसे ही कोई कुछ मांगता है, आंखों का आदर, सम्मान और प्यार खत्म हो जाता है। जब उन्होंने कहा कि यह कुछ न कुछ देता है अर्थात् जब भी किसी से कुछ मांगो तो वे तीनों चले गये। यानी भीख मांगना खुद को अपनी ही नजरों में गिराना है, इसलिए कभी भी भीख मांगने जैसा कोई काम न करें।

āba gī ādara gayā, nainana gayā sanehi.
ye tīnoṃ taba hī gaye, jabahi kahā kachu dehi.
Meaning :  As soon as someone asks for something, respect, honor and love disappear from the eyes. When they said that it gives something or the other, that is, whenever you ask for something from someone, all three of them went away. This means that begging means lowering yourself in your own eyes, hence never do anything like begging.

अर्थ :  सारी दुनिया जानती है कि भलाई, खून, खांसी, खुशी, दुश्मनी, प्यार और नशा छिपने से नहीं छिपते।

 रहिमन फाटे दूध को, मथे न माखन होय।।
अर्थ :  मनुष्य को सोच-समझकर व्यवहार करना चाहिए, क्योंकि अगर किसी कारण से कोई काम बिगड़ जाए तो उसे बनाना मुश्किल हो जाता है, जैसे दूध एक बार फट जाए तो लाख कोशिशों के बाद भी उसमें से मक्खन नहीं निकल पाता।

bigarī bāta bane nahīṃ, lākha karo kina koya.
rahimana phāṭe dūdha ko, mathe na mākhana hoya.

Meaning :  A person should behave thoughtfully, because if any work goes wrong due to some reason then it becomes difficult to do it, just like once milk curdles, butter cannot come out of it even after millions of efforts.

रहिमन’ वहां न जाइये, जहां कपट को हेत ।
हम तो ढारत ढेकुली, सींचत अपनो खेत ।।
अर्थ :  ऐसे स्थान पर कभी नहीं जाना चाहिए, जहां कोई छल-कपट से अपना मतलब निकालना चाहता हो। हम बड़ी मेहनत से ढेंकुली से कुएं से पानी खींचते हैं और पाखंडी लोग बिना मेहनत के अपने खेत सींचते हैं।

rahimana’ vahāṃ na jāiye, jahāṃ kapaṭa ko heta.
hama to ḍhārata ḍhekulī, sīṃcata apano kheta.

Meaning :  One should never go to such a place where someone tries to achieve his/her own ends by deceit. We draw water from the well with great effort and the hypocrites irrigate their fields without any effort.

‘रहिमन’ सोई मीत है, भीर परे ठहराय ।।
अर्थ :  सच्चा मित्र वही है जो मुसीबत के समय आपका साथ दे। वह मित्र किस काम का जो मुसीबत के समय बिछड़ जाए? मक्खन तो मथता रहता है, परन्तु मट्ठा दही का साथ छोड़ देता है।
