अर्थ : रहीम दास जी कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को तब तक कहीं न कहीं रहना चाहिए जब तक उसमें सम्मान और सेवा हो। जब आपको लगे कि आपका आत्म-सम्मान ख़त्म हो रहा है, तो आपको तुरंत चले जाना चाहिए।
rahimana taba lagi ṭhahariye, dāna māna sammāna. ghaṭatā māna dekhiye jabahi, turatahi karie payāna.
Meaning: Rahim Das Ji says that a man should live somewhere as long as there is respect and service in it. When you feel that your self-respect is ending, you should leave immediately.

मांगे मुकरि न को गयो , केहि न त्यागियो साथ।
मांगत आगे सुख लह्यो , ते रहीम रघुनाथ।।
अर्थ : रहीमदास जी कहते थे कि मनुष्य जो मांगता है उसे सभी देने से इंकार कर देते हैं और कोई भी उसे नहीं देता है। लोग उस शख्स का साथ छोड़ देते हैं. उस से ख़ुश रहना बेहतर है जो मांगता है कि ख़ुदा उस पर मेहरबान है।

धन दारा अरु सुतन , सो लग्यो है नित चित ।
नहि रहीम कोऊ लख्यो, गाढे दिन को मित॥
अर्थ : रहीमदास जी कहते हैं कि मनुष्य को हमेशा धन, यौवन और संतान पर ही अपना ध्यान नहीं लगाना चाहिए। क्योंकि जरूरत पड़ने पर उनमें से कोई भी आपका साथ नहीं देगा! अपना मन भगवान की भक्ति में लगाएं क्योंकि मुश्किल समय में वही आपका साथ देंगे।
dhana dārā aru sutana , so lagyo hai nita cita.
nahi rahīma koū lakhyo , gāḍhe dina ko mita.

मांस दियो शिवि भूप ने, दीन्हो हाड़ दधीच ॥
अर्थ : रहीमदास जी कहते थे कि दान करते समय स्वार्थ, मित्रता आदि के बारे में नहीं सोचना चाहिए। राजा शिव ने अपना शरीर और दधीचि ऋषि ने अपनी हड्डियाँ दान कर दी थीं। इसलिए परोपकार में अपना जीवन बलिदान करने में संकोच नहीं करना चाहिए।

रहिमन विद्या बुद्धि नहीं, नहीं धरम जस दान ।
भू पर जनम वृथा धरै, पसु बिन पूंछ विषान ॥
रहीमदास जी कहते थे कि जिसके पास बुद्धि नहीं है और जिसे विद्या अच्छी नहीं लगती, जिसने धर्म और दान नहीं किया तथा जिसने इस संसार में प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त नहीं की; वह इंसान धरती पर बेकार और बोझ बनकर पैदा होता है। अज्ञानी व्यक्ति और जानवर के बीच एकमात्र अंतर पूंछ का है। यानि कि ये इंसान एक पूँछ रहित जानवर है।
rahimana vidyā buddhi nahīṃ,
nahīṃ dharama jasa dāna.
bhū para janama vṛthā dharai,
pasu bina pūṃcha viṣāna.

भार धरे संसार को, तऊ कहावत सेस ॥
अर्थात रहीमदास जी कहते थे कि महान लोग वही होते हैं जिनमें अहंकार नहीं होता। यह सोचना गलत है कि अमीर आदमी महान होता है, उसे कभी किसी बात का घमंड नहीं होता। वह सुख-दुख में सबकी सहायता करता है, सबका भला सोचता है अर्थात् सारे संसार का भार उठाता है, वह शेषनाग कहलाने का अधिकारी है।
rahimana kabahuṃ baḍa़ena ke, nāhiṃ garaba ko lesa.
bhāra dhare saṃsāra ko, tū kahāvata sesa.
That is, Rahimdas ji used to say that great people are those who do not have ego. It is wrong to think that a rich man is great, he is never proud of anything. दीन सबन को लखत है, दीनहिं लखै न कोय।
जो रहीम दीनहिं लखत, दीनबन्धु सम होय ॥
अर्थात् रहीमदास जी कहते हैं कि दरिद्र को सब देखते हैं, परन्तु दरिद्र को कोई नहीं देखता। जो गरीबों की प्यार से देखभाल करता है, उनकी मदद करता है, वह गरीबों के लिए भगवान के समान हो जाता है।
dīna sabana ko lakhata hai, dīnahiṃ lakhai na koya.
jo rahīma dīnahiṃ lakhata, dīnabandhu sama hoya.

जो रहीम मन हाथ है, तो मन कहुं किन जाहि।
ज्यों जल में छाया परे, काया भीजत नाहिं ॥
अर्थात् रहीमदास जी कहते हैं कि जिसने अपने मन पर नियंत्रण कर लिया, उसका शरीर कहीं नहीं जा सकता, चाहे वह बड़े से बड़ा पाप भी प्राप्त कर ले। जिस प्रकार जल में प्रतिबिम्ब पड़ने से शरीर गीला नहीं होता। अर्थात मन को साधने से शरीर स्वतः ही स्वस्थ हो जाता है।
jo rahīma mana hātha hai, to mana kahuṃ kina jāhi.
jyoṃ jala meṃ chāyā pare, kāyā bhījata nāhiṃ.

को रहीम पर द्वार पै, जात न जिय सकुचात।
संपति के सब जात हैं, बिपति सबै लै जात ॥
रहीम कहते हैं कि संसार में ऐसा कौन व्यक्ति है, जो दूसरे के द्वार पर जाने में संकोच या झिझक न करता हो, लेकिन संकोच भी क्या, धनवान के द्वार पर तो सभी जाते हैं। हकीकत तो यह है कि लोग खुद अमीरों के दरवाजे पर नहीं जाते। विपदा ही उन्हें वहाँ ले जाती है।
कहने का भाव है- विपत्ति के समय ही व्यक्ति अमीर के दरवाजे पर जाता है। धनवान भी इस बात को जानते हैं और द्वार पर आये व्यक्ति को याचक नहीं बल्कि आश्रयदाता समझते हैं और प्रेमपूर्वक यथाशक्ति देकर उसे विदा करते हैं।

saṃpati ke saba jāta haiṃ, bipati sabai lai jāta.
