कहि रहीम संपति सगे, बनत बहुत बहु रीत।
बिपति कसौटी जे कसे, तेई सांचे मीत ॥

अर्थ : रहीमदास जी कहते हैं कि जिनके पास धन होता है, वे मित्र भी बहुत बनाते हैं, लेकिन सच्चे मित्र वही होते हैं, जो विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी खरे उतरते हैं। अर्थात जो विपत्ति में साथ दे वही सच्चा मित्र होता है।

kahi rahīma saṃpati sage, banata bahuta bahu rīta.
bipati kasauṭī je kase, teī sāṃce mīta.

Meaning :  Rahimdas ji says that those who have money also make many friends, but true friends are those who stand firm even in adverse circumstances. That is, the one who supports you in times of trouble is a true friend.
